My Facebook Posts Highlights For the Past Couple of Months...

I have not done much blogging in the past two months due to being busy at home and at work. I have however, posted a lot of my thoughts on facebook. Here, for your reading pleasure or displeasure, are some of these, from oldest to newest, some make sense and some are completely nonsensical!! I have left out all of my blogs concerning Congressman Anthony Weiner because they just aren't appropriate for everyone to view...

I've often wondered, what "sound" does a Puget make??

Hey "rich" kids, remember to share 50% of your Easter baskets with the less fortunate. This will prepare you for when you grow up and have to pay taxes !!

Today is my 68th birthday. That's 24,837 days; 596,088 hours; 35,765,280 minutes; or 2,145,916,800 seconds!! Tick, tick, tick...

I have been alive through 13 Presidential Administrations; FDR the original socialist, "The buck stops here" Truman, WWII Hero Eisenhower, JFK of Camelot, "Not ready for prime time"LBJ, The paranoid Nixon, The caretaker Ford, Carter of the misery index, Reagan the magnificent, Bush the elder, Clinton the philanderer, GWB the misunderstood and Obama the incompetent...

My greatest athletic accomplishment has been qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 1979, 1981 and 1995; and actually running in, and completing, the Boston Marathon in 1981. In high school I set the record for the mile run at the slow and slightly long ( I measured it!!)Walton Fairgounds track of 4:48. It is, or was, about 50 feet long per half mile lap. I also won the Sectional Cross Country meet at Delhi's Scotch Mountain course in 1960. My Walton teammate, Willie Tennant, finished second in that meet...

The most famous person that I have ever met was Nelson Rockefeller, when he was Governor of New York, in 1965. It was at the Orange County Fair when I was working as a 4-H Summer Assistant...

My all time sports hero remains Mickey Mantle, with apologies to Derek Jeter...

My greatest sports thrill was attending Game 4 of the 1958 World series at Yankee Stadium. I had won a local "Atlantic Gasoline Junior Sportscaster" contest and the legendary Amos Finch of WDLA fame, took me to the Stadium to see the Yankees play the Braves. Even thought he Yankees lost the game, they came back to win the Series and Mickey Mantle hit an unbelievable triple in the 4th inning of that game...

I enjoy incredibly good health for someone my age. I can't take a lot of credit for it though. I have been reactive instead of preventive as far as my health is concerned. I guess I can chalk it up to good genetics; thanks Mom and Dad...

I have overcome some major addictions in my life. I no longer drink alcohol, as of June 1, 1994; smoke, as of July 18,1991; or gamble, as of January 4, 2011...

I have owned at least one legendary car, a 1966 Silver Dodge Charger. Unfortunatley I abused it a lot, but I sure do have some great memories of it...

I have taught thousands of students over the years, and have hopefully been a positive influence in their lives...

I am a lousy golfer who has flashes of brilliance on the course. Ah yes, hope springs eternal...

The most traumatic events that have occurred during my lifetime were the JFK assassination on 11/22/1963 and the Terrorist attack on 9/11/2001. I was alive for the dropping of the A- bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, but of course, do not remember them...

I have no living parents, aunts or uncles left. Every summer that we go to NY we seem to attend half a dozen funerals or so...

I am fearful of the direction that our country, and world in general, is taking. A lot of Biblical prophecy is coming true...

I have been blessed with a loving family, faithful friends and interesting aquaintances...

My goal for the next year is to see my weight drop to under 200 pounds. I am finally being proactive in fighting off the inevitable ravages of old age...

I thank everyone in advance for the birthday wishes. It is my sincere hope to be able to continue thanking you all for another 25 years or so. However I know that is up to powers over which I have no control.

(to the tune of Jimmy Crack Corn): "Osama's now dead and I don't care; Osama's now dead and you don't care; Osama's now dead and we don't care; a SEAL blew him away"!!!

Why won't sharks eat Osama?? Because even sharks have standards!!

Obama, Oh drama, Osama: Get a SEAL, close the deal, it's surreal; Back to work, duties shirk, waters mirk; Economy kill, no oil drill, freedom nil; Nationalize, socialize, politicize; Allies dump, like a chump, where is Trump; Freedom gone, plans all drawn, we're the pawn; Obama, Oh drama, Islama...

Osama had three wives. Usually at this point I would say something like; "he shouted out to the Navy SEALs, shoot me please!!" But I will not say that, no, no, no...

So Obama, how does it feel to be"schooled" by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu?? Too bad you won't learn anything from it you narcissistic poor excuse for a leader and human being!!

Today, May 23rd is the 77th anniversary of the killing of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, "Bonnie and Clyde". My inside sources tell me that the next Hollywood remake of the movie is going to portray them as a gay couple named Barney Barker and Claude Sparrow, thus the movie will be titled "Barney and Claude". Remember, you heard it here first!!

Bad news: Benjamin Netanyahu was born in Israel in 1949, thus he is disqualified from running for President of the United States. This is bad for the U.S. He is a true leader who makes Obama look like an uninformed and uninterested schoolboy!!

So President Odumbass, you even screw up a toast to the Queen of England at Buckingham Palace?? Having you in England reminds me of the "Beverly Hillbillies" episode where they traveled to England and, of course, showed their ignorance of British customs, ways and protocols. They were only actors though. Come to think of it, you are an actor too. You're a boorish, unrefined, citified, bumpkin trying to act like a President!!
I have some sobering numbers to share with you on this Memorial Day weekend. From the Revolutionary War to the present there have been 848,163 US combat deaths in wars fought to establish and maintain our freedom. Another 437,421 US soldiers were killed due to non- combat reasons. That is a staggering total of 1,343,812 US Military deaths. Add to this 1,529,230 military wounded, giving us a grand total of 2,936,042 of our finest and bravest men and women who were, and continue to be, casualties of war.

Let me try to put these numbers in further perspective. During the American Civil War, 618,000 Americans were killed. The population of the US was a little over 31 million at thet time. This means that about 2%, or 1 out of every 50, Americans were killed in the War Between the States. More Americans were killed during the Civil War than any other war. Let me compare this to another war. During World war 2 the population of the US was about 133 million. If 2% of the population were killed in World War 2, the number killed would be 2.6 million. In fact 418,500 men and women lost their lives to save our Nation from the terrors of Hitler and the Japanese. This is only about one- sixth of the rate of the Civil War. Still, these are bloody numbers, indeed...

But this day is not about numbers; it's about the bravery of men and women, Americans all of whom were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, so that we could remain the greatest Nation on the face of the earth!! I am one of the lucky who came home from war unscathed and uninjured physically, mentally or emotionally. I salute everyone who has fought and died in any war, and will be ever grateful to you for your sacrifice.

I hope that all of you will join me in remembering the over 1 million Americans who paid the ultimate price for our freedom!!

I dare some 4-H or FFA member to name their fair steer "Obrahma"!!!

How many of you out there want someone with a big butt like Michelle Obama telling you how you should eat healthy??

I am so sorry that Dr. Kevorkian died. He could have been Obama's Surgeon General and implemented the Obamacare Death Panels. What an opportunity missed...
